Sunoon Hay and Chaff Mill Show Jumping Championship |
|
26 October 2008 The show jumping entries made up with enthusiasm what was lost in numbers. Linda Cleary and her helpers Jim and Tenile designed and built a range of courses, all asking just enough questions of the riders and their horses without being too complex or intimidating. The generosity of the Coffs Harbour Pony Club meant that we were faced with some interesting fill with the hay bales and the bright yellow banana claiming their share of victims.
Generous judging meant that those of us who were eliminated early in the initial classes were able to continue as long as we were not unsafe so that we all got to have a go over the scarey jumps. I have been told that we cannot expect the same treatment at next year’s Championships now that we have chance to school our horses appropriately. (We will have a jump training day some time before the Championships next year). The Equitation was a popular class and with one simple task was a great initiation to this aspect of jumping. Congratulations to the winners of these and the height class. To everyone whose horse was jumping better and more confidently at the end of the weekend than at the beginning, well done! Riders came from as far as Ballina and Kempsey and did not go home empty handed due generous sponsorship by Sunoon Hay and Chaff Mill that saw Champions receiving $100, a saddlecloth and a bag of chaff. Thank you Warren! Check out the gallery for all the action!
